\n\nThe end of school can be a challenging time for students in special
education and their loved ones. In this training\, we will go over what t
hat transition looks like\, and will work to develop some tools to assist
caregivers in navigating it. Join us for a demystifying discussion about t
his often-feared process. Presented by:
\nJohn Clausson\, Wildwood Sc
hool
\nJohn Clausson is the Young Adult Program Coordinator at Wildwo
od School\, where he supervises the Transition Readiness Department. With
a deep commitment to supporting students with disabilities\, John has dedi
cated his career to facilitating the transition process. He brings extensi
ve experience from his work in OPWDD day services and the school environme
nt as a social worker. Through these experiences\, John has gained a nuanc
ed understanding of the challenges students with different abilities face
in transitioning after school and has developed effective strategies for p
reparing them for post-secondary success.
\nSheri Gaylord\, Wildwood
Programs
\nSheri Gaylord joined Wildwood Programs in 2014 as an Educa
tional Resource Specialist working with families and community partners\,
helping them to understand the special education process\, the educational
rights of students\, and how to foster collaborative working relationship
s with school teams. In her current role as the School Age Family and Comm
unity Engagement (FACE) Center Director\, Sheri’s work with parents\, fami
lies\, school districts\, and community partners focuses on promoting mean
ingful change within the educational system\, building collaborative and m
eaningful family-school-community relationships\, and improving outcomes f
or students with disabilities. Sheri has spent the last 21 years navigatin
g disability-related systems and advocating for her children\, ensuring th
ey received appropriate services.
